Hair Terminology Glossary.
Speak the trade fluently. Every term you'll hear in extension education, demystified.
A
Hair sourced from donors in East & Southeast Asia, with cuticles aligned in the same direction. Coarser texture than European hair; takes color extremely well.
The protocol your client follows to keep extensions looking salon-fresh — sulfate-free shampoo, no heat above 365°F, sleep in a loose braid.
C
When every strand in the weft has its cuticles facing the same direction (root to tip). Prevents tangling and matting. The standard of luxury extensions.
A physical card or tassel of every shade in the line. Essential for accurate color matching in-person.
G
Alma's signature double- and triple-row weft construction — three wefts cut to a narrower 11.5" width that lays flat without bulk on fine hair.
R
Hair where all cuticles point the same direction (root-to-tip aligned). Prevents matting. Non-Remy hair is acid-stripped and silicone-coated to fake the smoothness — only lasts a few washes.
T
Pre-taped wefts adhered to the natural hair without sewing or beading. Fastest install method; reusable up to 3 cycles with our adhesive.
W
A horizontal strip of hair sewn or tied at the top edge, ready to install in rows. The base unit of professional hair extensions.
